A Flashback to Azmas Rugs’ Inaugural Collection

It’s difficult not to feel sentimental looking back on our first collection, Mid-Century Modern. The name refers to the American reflection of Bauhaus and International design movements during the early to mid 20th century. An ambitious initial foray into rug-making, this series of hand-woven pieces brings to life the stark yet stunning minimalism of the era.

Characterised by simple lines, handspun values and arresting patterns, each rug explores colour contrast within static symmetrical patterning. While we’ve come a long way since, it is with pride that we reflect on these pieces.
